Dementia care activities at Highpoint Care
Activities at Highpoint
One way that Highpoint Care supports those with dementia is with a routine of activities. It can be as simple as conversation, but Highpoint offers so much more: hobbies, puzzles and games, creative pastimes such as art and music therapy, and gentle exercise.
Memory recall activities
Memory recall activities, also known as reminiscence activities, can be incredibly beneficial to those with dementia. People can often remember distant memories more easily than recent events. With conversation, photographs, and personal belongings, discussion can be stimulated with residents about their life history and memories. Exercising, listening to music, and doing familiar activities can all aid memory too.
Activities available at Highpoint
At Highpoint Care, staff are always available for conversation. We also have facilities and routines to allow for gentle exercise, such as gardening, walking, or chair-based exercise; and residents can perform familiar activities around the house or garden, like watering plants. They can of course also indulge in their favourite creative pastimes, such as drawing or knitting, and playing or listening to music. Games and puzzles are available too.
Not only that, but we also have plenty of visitors to run sessions, as well as special activity days – such as parties, greeting card making, dances, and sensory sessions. Life is never dull at Highpoint!
