A ‘care home’ is a general term for any facility that offers accommodation and care for those unable to look after themselves. A ‘nursing home’ is a care home that also provides nursing assistance for residents, from registered nurses – such as devising care plans and administering treatments. Although Highpoint provides round-the-clock personalised care, neither Colliers Croft nor Damfield have nursing assistance, and therefore are care homes rather than nursing homes.
There are two main types of care home: residential care homes, which offer supervised care for live-in elderly residents; and nursing homes, which also provide nursing assistance. Some are ‘dual registered’, meaning they can provide both types of care. Colliers Croft and Damfield are residential care homes.
The costs of residential care homes can vary depending on the home, the resident, services provided, and other factors. Please get in touch to learn more.
